~Punishments for NOT Paying Zakat~

(In the light of Ahadith)

Narrated Abu Huraira (radi'Allahu anhu) :
Allah's Apostle (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said,

"Anyone whom Allah has given wealth
but he does not pay its zakat,
then, on the Day of Resurrection,
his wealth will be presented to him
in the shape of a bald-headed poisonous male snake
with two poisonous glands in its mouth
and with two black spots over the eyes.
it will encircle itself round his neck
and bite him over his cheeks and say,
"I am your wealth; I am your treasure."

Then the Prophet (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) recited
this Divine Verse:--
"And let not those who covetously withhold of that
which Allah has bestowed upon them of His Bounty."
(3.180)

{Sahih Bukhari}

(Book #60, Hadith #88) (Book #24, Hadith #486)

~~~
Narrated Abu Dhar (radi'Allahu anhu) :
Once I went to him (the Prophet )
and he (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said,
"By Allah in Whose Hands my life is (or probably said,
'By Allah, except Whom none has the right to be worshipped) whoever had camels or cows or sheep
and did not pay their zakat,
those animals will be brought on the Day of Resurrection
far bigger and fatter than before and they will tread him
under their hooves, and will butt him with their horns,
and (those animals will come in circle):
When the last does its turn, the first will start again,
and this punishment will go on
till Allah has finished the judgments amongst the people."
{Sahih Bukhari}
(Book #24, Hadith #539)
~~~

Abu Huraira (radi'Allahu anhu) reported
Allah's Messenger (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) as saying:

"If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him,
when the Day of Resurrection would come,
plates of fire would be beaten out for him;
these would then be heated in the fire of Hell
and his sides, his forehead and his back
would be cauterized with them.
Whenever these cool down,
(the process is) repeated during a day
the extent of which would be fifty thousand years,
until judgment is pronounced among servants,
and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell.

It was said: Messenger of Allah, what about the camel?
He (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
If any owner of the camel does not pay what is due on him,
and of his due in that (camel) is (also) to milk it on the day
when it comes down to water.
When the Day of Resurrection comes
a soft sandy plain would be set for him, as extensive as possible,
(he will find) that not a single young one is missing,
and they will trample him with their hoofs
and bite him with their mouths.
As often as the first of them passes him,
the last of them would be made to return during a day
the extent of which would be fifty thousand years,
until judgment is pronounced among servants and he sees
whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell.
It was (again) said:

Messenger of Allah, what about cows (cattle) and sheep?
He (sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

If any owner of the cattle and sheep does not pay
what is due on them, when the Day of Resurrection comes
a soft sandy plain would be spread for them,
he will find none of them missing,
with twisted horns, without horns or with a broken horn,
and they will gore him with their horns
and trample him with their hoofs.
As often as the first of them passes him
the last of them would be made to return to him
during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years,
until judgment would be pronounced among the servants.
And he would be shown his path-path
leading him to Paradise or to Hell..."

Sahih Muslim

(Book #005, Hadith #2161)

Insomnia Home Remedy Treatments

Sleepless night after sleepless night can be downright unbearable. Discover some helpful home remedies for getting the sleep you need tonight -- and every night.

Don't torture yourself. The worst thing that an insomniac can do is to lie in bed tossing and turning. If you can't fall asleep after 15 to 20 minutes, get up and do a quiet activity, such as reading, watching TV, or listening to relaxing music. Then, go back to bed and try again.

Say no to naps. If you nap, you'll have more trouble getting to sleep the next night, thereby compounding your insomnia. It's best to let yourself get good and sleepy so that it will be easier to get to sleep the next night.

Try earplugs. Sometimes, insomnia is caused by being awakened repeatedly by loud noises. Often, the sleeper is not aware of what awakened them. Try sleeping in a quieter room, or wear earplugs.

Exercise. Doing aerobic exercise, such as walking, cycling, jogging, or swimming, helps with sleep. Don't exercise too close to bedtime, though -- exercising in the morning or afternoon is best.

Get a comfortable bed and pillows. Sleep may elude you if your bed is too hard or too soft, or if your pillows aren't just right.

Don't drink alcohol. Although alcohol can make you feel drowsy and may actually put you to sleep, it has the unpleasant side effect of waking you up later on in the night with a headache, stomachache, or full bladder. In addition, once alcohol's sedative effect wears off, there's a rebound effect that actually makes you more likely to have trouble falling back to sleep.

Cut down on caffeine. Caffeine, by its nature, stimulates your brain. Limit your coffee intake to two cups a day. Starting at noon , consume no foods or beverages that contain caffeine.

Don't switch beds or move to the couch. It is important to associate your bed, and only your bed, with sleep.

Try to maintain a normal schedule. Perhaps the most important rule for people with insomnia is to keep a strict sleep-wake schedule, even on weekends. If you can't sleep one night, get up at your usual time the next morning and don't take any naps. Chances are you'll be ready for a sound sleep by the next night.

Confine work to the office. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex. No work, no eating, no television, and no arguing with your bed partner.

Take a hot bath. A hot bath taken two hours before bedtime is a wonderful way to relax your body and make it ready for sleep. For most people, taking a bath closer to bedtime may be stimulating and may delay sleep (of course, there are always exceptions, so experiment with the timing if you need to).

Establish a relaxing bedtime ritual. When mothers bathe their children or read to them every night before bedtime, they are reinforcing a signal that it's time to settle down and get ready for sleep. Establishing such a ritual may also be helpful for adults.

Prepare your bedroom for sleep. The best sleep environment is one that is dark, quiet, comfortable, and cool, according to the National Sleep Foundation.

Don't eat before bed. Finish eating two or three hours before bedtime.

Try a sleeping pill. You're not admitting defeat by asking your doctor for a prescription sleeping pill or by trying an over-the-counter (OTC) remedy. However, most prescription pills should not be used for more than a month at a time. They should also not be used for insomnia at high altitudes, since that type of insomnia may be caused by trouble breathing and a lack of oxygen, and taking sleeping pills at high altitudes may slow your breathing rate even further.

Some doctors don't endorse OTC sleeping pills, since they can cause side effects such as drying out the mucous membranes in your mouth, nose, and throat (they often have antihistamines as ingredients) and can leave you drowsy the next day. And, of course, if you are pregnant, are nursing a baby, or have a serious medical problem, you should consult your doctor before taking any drugs. Sleep medications may also worsen snoring and sleep apnea, a dangerous condition in which breathing is labored during sleep.

Never take sleeping pills throughout the night. If you do choose to take sleeping pills, make sure you only take your dose before you go to bed. If you take them when you wake in the middle of the night, they won't have a chance to wear off before morning, and you're likely to be sleepy during the day.

Evaluate your other medications. Certain prescription medications, such as those for asthma and thyroid problems, may cause insomnia. Check with your doctor if you suspect that one of your medications is causing your insomnia.

Be your own sleep scientist. There is no one formula for perfect sleep -- different things work for different people. The important thing is to give everything a fair and persistent trial (for at least a week or two, not just one night) and see what works best for you. Keep a sleep log, a notebook of what works and what doesn't.

There's no magic trick to treating insomnia, but some of the home remedies outlined above might just be the recipe you need to get back to sleep.

RAMADAN HEALTH GUIDE

FASTING is complete abstinence from food and drink between dawn and dusk. All those who are ill or frail, pregnant or menstruating women, breastfeeding mothers and travellers are exempted. They are required to make up the number of days missed at a later date or give a fixed sum to charity.

Health is the key to happiness, and what we consume
directly affects our health. Islam encourages Muslims to
ensure that they are mindful of their health. The blessed
Prophet said: “Take advantage of the good health before
illnesses afflict you”. He also encouraged Muslims to try
their best to take up a healthy living lifestyle that includes
a balanced diet, regular mental and physical exercise and
a balance between material and spiritual needs.
The Health Survey for England 2004 (Department of
Health, 2005) has shown poor health and lifestyle choices
of the Asian community in general and Muslim community
in particular. Compared with the 24% of men in the
general population who smoked cigarettes, higher levels
of cigarette smoking were reported by Bangladeshi men
(40%). South Asian men and women had the highest
rates of diabetes. Pakistanis and Bangladeshis were up
to five times more likely than the general population to
have diabetes, and Indian men and women were up to
three times as likely. Some 33% of Pakistani men and
women eat the recommended five or more portions of
fruit and vegetables a day, compared with 28% of Bangladeshi men
and women.The month of Ramadan is a great opportunity to focus on
bringing back a balanced and healthy lifestyle in your life.
Through fasting you begin to learn how to manage your
eating habits, how to improve self-control and discipline.
This month requires you to give the stomach a break, and
by doing so you are able to break down and expel the
accumulated toxins from your body.

Some Mobile MANNERS..

The mobiles industry wants as many people as possible to enjoy the benefits of mobile telecommunications and encourages individuals to use their mobile phones in a responsible manner and to be considerate and aware of situations where using their mobile phone might annoy others.

1. When in doubt, always go out

When possible go outside or to another room to make your call if your call might disturb others. Also, features such as text messaging answering services, call diversion and vibration alert can be used to receive important calls without disturbing others.

2. If you can't turn it off, use silent mode

If you need to keep your phone on for important calls, then turn it to silent or vibrate mode. It's the ring of a mobile phone in inappropriate places and times such as at the tennis or in restaurants which annoys people the most.

3. When required turn your phone off and check it's off

There are some places where people should never talk on a mobile phone or send text messages and where the ringing of a mobile phone or message alert is considered highly unacceptable, such as: movies, stage shows, weddings, funerals, concerts, speeches, classrooms and lectures. In these cases, turn your phone off and remember to check it's off before you enter the venue. You can always check your voicemail, text messages or your answering service afterwards.

4. Keep your conversations private

People's sense of personal space varies in each situation. Making a call in a busy pub may be okay, but talking loudly in a confined space like a lift or on a train tends to infringe on others personal space. Be aware of where you are and who you are with and what others are doing before deciding to make or accept a call. In some situations it might be better to send a text message.

5. Speak softly

Mobile phones have very sensitive microphones that can pick even the softest voice, so there is no need to shout. If you are having trouble hearing the other caller, check that you have the volume on your phone set high enough.

6. You don't always have to answer- use your messaging service

It's a natural reflex to answer your phone if it rings, however, if you forget to put your phone on silent or vibrate mode and it rings at an inappropriate moment, send the call to voice mail or your answering service (usually by pressing the hang-up key).

7. Talk to the one you're with

If you receive a call during a conversation, send the call to your voicemail or answering service. Your first priority should be to the person you are with. However, if you are expecting an important call let the person you're with know before the call arrives and excuse yourself before accepting the call.

8. Don't send inappropriate messages

Messaging is a great way to communicate, but don't send offensive or threatening text, voice, picture or any other sort of message, because it is a criminal offence to use a mobile phone to menace or harass someone. Also receivers can save messages and easily identify you as the sender.

9. Respect others' privacy when using in-phone cameras

In-phone cameras shouldn't be used anywhere a normal camera would be considered inappropriate, such as in change rooms or toilets. You should ask for permission before you take someone's picture. Also bear in mind that some venues do not allow the use of cameras and may refuse entry to anyone with one.

10. Ban the ring: not the phone

Wherever conversations are normally acceptable, venues can help by asking people to turn their phones to silent or vibrate mode rather than turning it off. This approach will help with compliance, especially for people who need their phone for important calls. Venues can also assist by reminding people to set their phones to silent mode, before they enter.

Why Muslims Eat only Halaal Food?

Bob asked Yunus a few questions regarding the Halal and Haram on the way back from School

Bob: Tell me why is it that a Muslim is very particular about the words Halaal and Haraam; what do they mean?

Yunus: That which is permissible is termed Halaal and that which is not permissible is termed Haraam and it is the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him) which draws the distinction between the two.

Bob: Can you give me an example?

Yunus: Yes, Islam has prohibited blood of any type. You will agree that chemical analysis of blood shows that it contains an abundance of uric acid, a chemical substance which can be injurious to human health.

10 Things WE Didn't Know About DREAMS..

Who become blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion. It is hard for a seeing person to imagine, but the body need for sleep is so strong that it is able to handle virtually all physical situations to make it happen.

You Forget 90% of your Dreams

Within 5 minutes of waking, half of your dream if forgotten. Within 10, 90% is gone. The famous poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, woke one morning having had a fantastic dream (likely opium induced) - he put pen to paper and began to describe his vision in a dream in what has become one of English most famous poems: Kubla Khan. Part way through (54 lines in fact) he was interrupted by a Person from Porlock. Coleridge returned to his poem but could not remember the rest of his dream. The poem was never completed.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.

Curiously, Robert Louis Stevenson came up with the story of Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde whilst he was dreaming.

Everybody Dreams

Every human being dreams (except in cases of extreme psychological disorder) but men and women have different dreams and different physical reactions. Men tend to dream more about other men, while women tend to dream equally about men and women. In addition, both men and women experience sexually related physical reactions to their dreams regardless of whether the dream is sexual in nature; males experience erections and females experience increased vaginal blood flow.

Dreams Prevent Psychosis

In a recent sleep study, students who were awakened at the beginning of each dream, but still allowed their 8 hours of sleep, all experienced difficulty in concentration, irritability, hallucinations, and signs of psychosis after only 3 days. When finally allowed their REM sleep the student’s brains made up for lost time by greatly increasing the percentage of sleep spent in the REM stage

We Only Dream of What We Know

Our dreams are frequently full of strangers who play out certain parts - did you know that your mind is not inventing those faces - they are real faces of real people that you have seen during your life but may not know or remember? The evil killer in your latest dream may be the guy who pumped petrol in to your Dad car when you were just a little kid. We have all seen hundreds of thousands of faces through our lives, so we have an endless supply of characters for our brain to utilize during our dreams.

Not Everyone Dreams in Color

A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. People also tend to have common themes in dreams, which are situations relating to school, being chased, running slowly/in place, sexual experiences, falling, arriving too late, a person now alive being dead, teeth falling out, flying, failing an examination, or a car accident. It is unknown whether the impact of a dream relating to violence or death is more emotionally charged for a person who dreams in color than one who dreams in black and white

Dreams are not about what they are about

If you dream about some particular subject it is not often that the dream is about that. Dreams speak in a deeply symbolic language. The unconscious mind tries to compare your dream to something else, which is similar. Its like writing a poem and saying that a group of ants were like machines that never stop. But you would never compare something to itself, for example: That beautiful sunset was like a beautiful sunset. So whatever symbol your dream picks on it is most unlikely to be a symbol for itself.

Quitters have more vivid dreams

People who have smoked cigarettes for a long time who stop, have reported much more vivid dreams than they would normally experience. Additionally, according to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology: “Among 293 smokers abstinent for between 1 and 4 weeks, 33% reported having at least 1 dream about smoking. In most dreams, subjects caught themselves smoking and felt strong negative emotions, such as panic and guilt. Dreams about smoking were the result of tobacco withdrawal, as 97% of subjects did not have them while smoking, and their occurrence was significantly related to the duration of abstinence. They were rated as more vivid than the usual dreams and were as common as most major tobacco withdrawal symptoms.

External Stimuli Invade our Dreams

This is called Dream Incorporation and it is the experience that most of us have had where a sound from reality is heard in our dream and incorporated in some way. A similar (though less external) example would be when you are physically thirsty and your mind incorporates that feeling in to your dream. My own experience of this includes repeatedly drinking a large glass of water in the dream which satisfies me, only to find the thirst returning shortly after - this thirst drink thirst loop often recurs until I wake up and have a real drink. The famous painting above (Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening) by Salvador Dali, depicts this concept.

You are paralyzed while you sleep

Believe it or not, your body is virtually paralyzed during your sleep - most likely to prevent your body from acting out aspects of your dreams. According to the Wikipedia article on dreaming, Glands begin to secrete a hormone that helps induce sleep and neurons send signals to the spinal cord which cause the body to relax and later become essentially paralyzed.

Self Management

You are responsible for everything that happens in your life. Learn to accept total responsibility for yourself. If you do not manage yourself, then you are letting others have control of your Life. These tips will help "you" manage "you."

Here is a list of things that help you in self management and which will in turn lead you to the path of success: -

-) Look at every new opportunity as an exciting and new-life experience.

-) Be a professional who exhibits self-confidence and self-assurance in your potential to complete any task.

-) Agree with yourself in advance that you will have a good attitude toward the upcoming task.

-) Frequently ask, "Is what I am doing right now moving me toward my goals?"

-) Do it right the first time and you will not have to take time later to fix it.

-) Accept responsibility for your job successes and failures. Do not look for a scapegoat.

-) Do not view things you do as a "job." View all activities as a challenge.

-) Use your subconscious mind by telling it to do what you do want. Instead of telling yourself, "I can't do that very well," say, "I can do this very well."-) Give yourself points for completing tasks on your "to-do" list in priority order. When you reach 10 points, reward yourself.

-) Practice your personal beliefs. It may be helpful each morning to take 15 minutes to gather your thoughts and say a prayer.

-) Make a commitment to show someone a specific accomplishment on a certain date. The added urgency will help you feel motivated to have it done.

-) Practice self-determination, wanting to do it for yourself.

-) Believe that you can be what you want to be.

-) Never criticize yourself as having a weakness. There is no such thing. You are only talking about a present undeveloped skill or part of yourself that if you so chose, you can change. You do not have any weakness, only untapped potential.

-) Be pleasant all the time-no matter what the situation.

-) Challenge yourself to do things differently than you have in the past. It provides new ideas and keeps you interested.

-) Talk to yourself. A self-talk using positive affirmation is something that is common among all great achievers. They convince themselves that they can accomplish their goals.

-) Create your own "motivation board" by putting up notes of things you need to do on a bulletin board or special wall space. It is an easily visible way to see what you need to work on. When an item is done, remove the note. Also keep your goals listed and pictured on your board.

-) Stay interested in what you are doing. Keep looking for what is interesting in your work. Change your perspective and look at it as someone outside your job would,

-) Establish personal incentives and rewards to help maintain your own high enthusiasm and performance level.
